If you read the document on the top link, ukm, I think you'll find the traffic Officer service is included in the regs

As such, it's an offence to impersonate a Traffic Officer which includes the vehicle markings

I know we are, you done our job long enough to see TM companies taking the Michael and putting livery on their cars to make them look like ours.

As long as it's not reflective I don't think they're breaking the law

Extracting the urine IMHO The use of rear reds seems to be on the rise - saw a council highways truck with them on last week

Sorry - I perhaps was not clear in my last message...

What I had intended itto be read as was that for most of those covered in the legislation it is a clear offence, however the ambulance service loses out, since there is no control on who can operate an ambulance.

Does that make more sense?

I've not really looked into the law as regards what constitutes an Ambulance but have noticed, over the years, many variations of vehicles marked up complete with blue lights

Any idea where they stand regarding exemptions when 'blue lighting' ?

The exemption simply says it must be used for ambulance purposes....

Far to many out there abusing it if you ask me. Time for some stringent controls.

Here to define it as an ambulance you just register it as an ambulance. A vehicle for the transport of sick or injured persons.

Then tax and insure it as same, throw some markings, lights and sirens on it and away you go.

Now the last time we were taxing our ambulance they asked for proof it was an ambulance, so a pic of the inside and the front where it said ECNALUBMA, that seem to satisfy the clerk.......they were strict on it because ambulances are tax exempt here so im sure some people have chanced their arm to get off paying road tax
